Design Support
We support fire engineering design decisions from RIBA Stage 1 through to Building Control or Gateway 2 sign off, producing the reports, modelling and drawings your project needs at each stage.
Fire safety decisions made during the design stage shape how a building performs, and how smoothly it moves through Building Control, or for higher risk buildings, the Building Safety Regulator. Working alongside your design team from RIBA Stage 1 through to Stage 4, we produce the fire strategy reports, modelling and drawings needed for your project and support you through to Building Control or Gateway 2 sign off.
Below, you can find out more about the specific support we offer, from the technical documents we produce during design, through to the approval route that applies to your project.
A few common questions about fire strategy reports, modelling and approval routes. Get in touch if yours isn’t covered here.
As early as RIBA Stage 1, ideally. Fire safety decisions made early are generally easier and less costly to resolve than those raised once a design is more developed.
CFD modelling is typically required for more complex fire scenarios, such as smoke control or where Building Control or the fire service specifically request it. We can advise on whether it applies to your scheme, and support you with next steps.
Construction cannot begin until the Building Safety Regulator has approved the application. Building in time for this stage, and preparing thorough documentation from the outset, reduces the risk of delay.
