Cahill Design Consultants (CDC) was commissioned by McL Projects Limited to offer full Fire Life Safety services to the development of a number of accommodation lodges, glamping facilities and a restaurant building within the grounds of Warwick Castle in Warwickshire.

Warwick Castle is owned and operated by Merlin Entertainment Limited.

The planned development will form part of the Warwick Castle attraction and will offer overnight accommodation for visitors to the Castle. A number of Lodge buildings will be constructed in addition to tent structure glamping facilities. A restaurant building will offer food and beverage in addition to providing a venue for informal events.

CDC worked closely with the wider design team in addition to Building Control officers and local Fire Authorities, to ensure that the Fire Engineering requirements were effectively incorporated into the design proposals. This included compartmentation, escape routes, fire services access, smoke extract strategy and coordination with Building Control and Fire Services.

Access to the site for fire vehicles was assessed and discussed with Fire Authorities to ensure that sufficient access provision was provided.

Acoustic support allowed the development to achieve planning permission and all planning conditions relating to noise were successfully discharged.
