Cahill Design Consultants Limited was appointed by Colchester Amphora Trading Ltd to provide fire engineering consultancy and acoustic consultancy services in support of the redevelopment of the former bus depot in Queen Street, Colchester.

The plans include the demolition of the existing bus station, and the redevelopment of a new-build commercial building. The building will accommodate studio and office spaces, arcade, café, amenity areas, back of house, external amenity and will focus on digital businesses. 45B Queen Street will be a ground plus three storey building, with access from ground level on Queen Street and Priory Street.

CDC provided high levels of acoustic design assistance in line with the client’s design aspirations including providing levels of acoustic privacy and comfort within the proposed building, in keeping with planning requirements.

CDC facilitated the development of an acoustic strategy for the project which will be carried through the design and construction phases of the redevelopment.

CDC continues to work in conjunction with the design team to offer creative and technical input on acoustical matters, and their relation to other disciplines.

In addition, CDC was appointed by Colchester Amphora Trading Ltd to provide fire engineering consultancy services in support of the redevelopment of the former bus depot.

CDC continue to liaise with Building Control and, Fire Authorities, to ensure the proposals are acceptable and able to gain approval on the overall fire strategy for the development.
