Cahill Design Consultants (CDC) was commissioned by Khatib & Alami Dubai, on behalf of their Client Vandis Hotels & Developments, to offer full acoustic design, planning and commissioning services to this 29 floor, hotel and residential development located in Dubai, UAE.

The proposed development is operated by IHG Hotels and incorporates substantial residential accommodation in addition the a Holiday Inn hotel. The 29 floor tower incorporates, guestrooms, food and beverage areas, fitness suite, guest services areas, a large atrium, residential accommodation, in addition to the usual back of house spaces.

CDC was commissioned to support the project from Concept Design to Detailed Design and Construction Stages. The acoustic design was developed in accordance with IHG Brand Standard requirements in addition to local environmental and building regulation requirements. CDC worked closely with the wider design team including architects, building services engineers, structural engineers, fire engineering and project managers to ensure that the acoustic design requirements were effectively incorporated into the design proposals. This included internal sound insulation, acoustic design of external fabric, building services noise control, reverberation control and structural acoustic assessments.

The development is located adjacent to a main arterial road and so exposed to high levels of noise on its main facades. A detailed survey and careful acoustic specification of façade elements, ensured that internal noise levels would achieve the strict IHG Brand Standards.
