Cahill Design Consultants was contracted by Collins Construction to provide Fire Engineering Support Services to Devon House, located in St Catharine’s Dock, London. The development comprises an extensive refurbishment of an existing six storey mixed use building, to create high end commercial accommodation and ancillary spaces.

Cahill Design Consultants provided Fire Engineering support to the development, including Fire Strategy development, smoke extract assessment, liaison with Building Control and site supervision. The building was required to comply with the prescribed Employers Requirements, in addition to the requirements of Building Regulations acoustic recommendations.

The development will also incorporate an ancillary building providing a lecture hall, café, meetings rooms and other ancillary areas. Cahill Design Consultants worked closely with Collins Construction, and the wider design team members, to ensure that the recommendations included within the Fire Strategy able to be effectively incorporated into the construction of the building. A number of site visits were undertaken to support Collin Construction with the implementation of the strategy into the development.

The development successfully achieved Building Control and Fire Services approval for fire safety.
