The IOA set up the Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control to provide specialist academic training to meet the educational requirements for Corporate Membership of the Institute of Acoustics.
Nicolas Assiotis, one of our Acoustic Consultants, is currently taking the well established Diploma, widely recognised as ‘the leading specialist qualification for the professional practitioner in acoustics.’
The Diploma consists of 3 core modules and 2 specialist modules. The mandatory models are:
- General Principles of Acoustics
- Laboratory (execution and reporting of Centre-dependent laboratory exercises)
- Project (demonstrate the ability to use and apply the skills and knowledge gained)
The choice of specialist modules are:
- Building Acoustics
- Regulation and Assessment of Noise
- Environmental Noise: Prediction, Measurement and Control
- Noise and Vibration Control Engineering
You can read more about the benefits of the Diploma and what it involves here.
“I feel that after 3 years of practical experience in Acoustics the Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control was the perfect course to tie my experience with specialist academic knowledge especially in “Building Acoustics” and “Environmental Noise” which were my two optional modules on top of the standard “General principles of acoustics” module.
It was also really interesting and fulfilling doing the Laboratory module where I applied my experience but also got my hands on experiments I’ve never done before like Audiometry.
Also the diploma provides the educational requirements for me to apply for Corporate Membership of the Institute of Acoustics.”Nicolas Assiotis, Acoustic Consultant, Cahill Design Consultants
