The Role:

As a General Accountant at CCD Ltd,  you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial activities of the organization. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in various accounting functions. Your duties will include but are not limited to: 

Financial Control, Compliance & Analysis: 

  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies. Provide guidance and support to other departments or teams on financial matters. 
  • Analyse financial data to assess the financial health of the organization and provide insights to management. They may prepare financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to communicate financial performance and trends. 

Payroll Management: 

  • Process payroll for employees accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies. 
  • Calculate and record payroll taxes, deductions, and contributions. 
  • Maintain payroll records and resolve any payroll-related discrepancies or inquiries. 

Accounts Payable & Receivable: 

  • Generate and issue invoices to clients promptly and accurately. 
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue payments. 
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure accurate invoicing and billing practices. Communicate with clients regarding payment reminders, payment plans, and resolution of billing issues 
  • Implement effective debt collection strategies to minimize outstanding debts. 
  • Keep detailed records of debt collection activities and maintain accurate accounts receivable aging reports. 

Tax Compliance: 

  • Ensure compliance with VAT regulations and guidelines. 
  • Monitor changes in VAT legislation and assess their impact on the business. 
  • Prepare and file tax returns, calculate taxes owed, and maintain records of tax payments and deductions. 
  • Identify and assess opportunities for claiming Research and Development (R&D) tax credits. 
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to gather necessary documentation and information for R&D tax credit claims. 
  • Prepare and submit R&D tax credit claims in accordance with regulatory requirements and guidelines 

Software Proficiency: 

  • Utilize accounting software such as Sage and Xero to maintain accurate financial records, reconcile accounts, and generate financial reports. 
  • Collaborate with PM’s through our internal project management software to track financial aspects of projects and budgets. 

Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • Professional certification such as ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent is preferred. 
  • Proven experience in accounting roles with a focus on payroll, invoicing, debt chasing, R&D tax credits, and VAT management. 
  • Proficiency in using accounting software such as Sage and Xero. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
